BiA 19th Annual BioProcess Conference

Mark Johnson was delighted to attend the BiA 19th Annual BioProcess Conference and Exhibition In Edinburgh last week.

The conference began with a warm welcome from BiA with opening remarks from Peter Coleman of Edinburgh manufacturer RoslinCT. It led into panels on UK manufacturing and the translation of new research into therapies.

Highlights were the insights the event gave us into Multus, a company that uses a proprietary machine learning platform to optimise a variety of growth factor proteins to develop animal cell types and tissues. We also enjoyed hearing about Jellagen, a collagen based regenerative healing technology.

The conference included a Dragons Den style event won by Leaf Expression Systems, a contract development and manufacturing organisation. Leaf Expression uses plant-based expression and the production of proteins, vaccines and complex natural products for research and commercial applications.

The event brought together the biotechnology community in a truly collaborative environment and we were glad that Mark was able to represent us.
